The American Backflow Prevention Association started the Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester Certification Program in 1994 in response to it membership on the need for certification in areas with no program in place.

The program was developed on a consensus basis by the ABPA training committee. The initial development was a Need -To Know criteria for the backflow prevention assembly tester. The examination process was developed from the Need-To-Know Criteria, to confirm that the applicants could demonstrate their proficiency in this criteria. ABPA certification is in 35 states currently with over 1500 testers

The cost for certification is $60.00.  this is to be paid at the time of examination.  All examination start a 8 am.
